Harnessing 2019

Prosjektrom C4, Bergen, Norway

installation with nylon parachute cord, plastic, copper, tape, tarpaulin, kyanite crystal **

The first in a new series of parachute cord sculptures, these works dangle on the edge of wearablity, suggesting functionalities that could extend into higher dimensions. With the paracord survival bracelet as her starting point, Sexton knots complex harnesses that incorporate buckles and netting. She is imagining armatures for psionic experience… energetic vessels… restraints for skepticism… amplifiers for our innate abilities.

** “Kyanite has a calming effect on the whole being, bringing tranquility. It encourages psychic abilities and communication on all levels. It drives away anger, frustration, confusion and stress and helps to provide a capacity for linear and logical thought. Kyanite provides a stimulating energy, encouraging perseverance in and support of activities and situations which would normally reduce one’s strength.”
